This is a popular college hangout located near the University of Washington. Located in the basement of the College Inn, the pub is an active place located just east of the University of Washington. After closing hours, sightings of a irish man named Howard Bok have been reported in the back room. The legend of Howard Bok says he was a sailor who stopped in Seattle and stayed at the College Inn. He was murdered in the building and his ghost inhabited the basement many years before the Pub was established in 1974. Howard’s ghost is said to hang out in the small back room of the pub, neamed the Snug Room, and his spirit can be felt especially strongly after hours. Some witnesses say Howard has even been rumored to play the piano that sits in the Snug Room.

LarsenThe disembodied footsteps of a woman in high heels can be heard in the corridors of Larsen Hall. They are most often reported in the section of the building used as the college health service. The 3rd floor of this building is also haunted by another ghost nicknamed Gertrude. Her mischievous presence is blamed for drawers being rifled through, prank fire alarms, and missing stuff. People have reported missing pieces of clothing, and find them sometimes replaced with items from another era. Gertrude is said to be a Decorah high school graduate who wanted to attend the school before women were allowed to attend. She died in 1918, when she was struck by a vehicle as she rode her bike down West Broadway.

Decorah is in the northeast corner of Iowa, at the junction of U.S. Highway 52 and road nine. Find out more about Luther College here.

Coe College – Cedar Rapids, IA

voorheesA ghost called Helen is said to haunt this campus. The young coed died from influenza in 1918 and her spirit is alleged to have taken up residence in an old grandfather clock in Voorhees Hall, which was her previous dorm. The clock had been donated to the college by Helen’s folks. At night, her spirit left the clock and played the piano in the parlor or walked the steps to her old room on the second floor. Late at night, the white apparition would appear at the foot of students’ beds. Sometimes it slammed doors or pulled off the bedcovers. When the clock was moved to Stuart Hall in the early 1970s, the spooky manifestations started to take place there.

When Voorhees Hall was remodeled in 2000, one of the architects who was taking pictures for the renovation made it a point not to take pictures of students.  A student showed up in one image however.  The strange photo shows a student sitting on a staircase. The staircase landing in the photo was the one  just outside what was once the infirmary.

Coe College is found at 1220 First Avenue Northeast in Cedar Rapids.
